President Trump said Friday the U.S. is winning the war against Iran with “unlimited firepower.”
Mr. Trump, in a social media post, pointed to progress in the conflict while complaining about media coverage that made it seem as if he was not achieving his aims.
“Iran’s Navy is gone, their Air Force is no longer, missiles, drones and everything else are being decimated, and their leaders have been wiped from the face of the earth,” he wrote. “We have unparalleled firepower, unlimited ammunition, and plenty of time — Watch what happens to these deranged scumbags today.”
Mr. Trump and Israel started striking Iranian targets on Feb. 28, saying Iran did not accept U.S. terms around its nuclear ambitions, missile programs and support for terror proxies in the region.
Tehran retaliated by striking locations in the Gulf region and choking off the Strait of Hormuz, a vital artery for a fifth of the world’s oil shipments.
The economic fallout raises oil prices, causing turmoil on Wall Street. It also increased pressure on Mr. Trump to outline his goals and a possible endgame for the war.

Mr. Trump has said the war will be a “short-term excursion,” though he also says the U.S. has to “finish the job.”
“They’ve been killing innocent people all over the world for 47 years, and now I, as the 47th President of the United States of America, am killing them,” Mr. Trump wrote Friday. “What a great honor it is to do so!”
