Orange track jackets and pants featured in a Dunkin’ Donuts Super Bowl ad went on sale on the coffee chain’s website for less than 20 minutes Monday. By then they were sold out.
The commercial featured Bostonian actors Ben Affleck and Matt Damon and New England Patriots legend Tom Brady.
All three sported the jackets as part of a band, the DunKings, with Boston emblazoned on the garb to play up the chain’s roots. In the ad, the band trolled Mr. Affleck’s wife, singer and actress Jennifer Lopez, as part of the New York versus Boston rivalry.
In a survey by consumer research firm Numerator, 29% of respondents rated the ad their favorite in Sunday’s game, making it the top spot in the survey, according to Variety.
The initial stockpile of DunKings merchandise was sold out faster than any other collection in the chain’s history, a spokesperson told Boston.com.
The spokesperson added that Dunkin’ doesn’t know when the merchandise will be back in stock.
In addition to the $60 tracksuit jackets and $60 pants, Dunkin’ offered $40 tumblers and $40 bucket hats as part of the collection. All four items are available to preorder on the Dunkin’ website, with an estimated shipping time of five to seven weeks.
The limited-time DunKings food items, a skewer of donut holes and a special coffee, are still available in stores.
