You really can’t make this up. The Chief of Police in Portland was forced to admit that the people ICE shot were Tren de Aragua gang members after refusing to do so initially, but he continues to insist that they are victims.

On Jan. 8, Border Patrol non-fatally shot a man and a woman in east Portland after they allegedly tried to run down agents in a red pickup truck following a targeted stop. Internal communications about the incident, which was inaccurately blamed on ICE, were leaked to PDX ICE Watch by a Multnomah County first responder.
The entire city and state leadership, all run by Democrats, organized an emergency press conference to condemn the federal agents, reject DHS’ statement and to express support with the violent suspects, who they called the “victims.” Local and national media also misled the public about the shooting. The two “victims” in the shooting were trying to escape apprehension by ICE by running down agents trying to arrest them. They are known illegal aliens who engage in sex trafficking, which apparently makes them valued citizens in Portland, worthy of having the police defend them against the awful Federales.

The Department of Homeland Security has released the names and photos of the two alleged Tren de Aragua associates from Venezuela accused of trying to run over Border Patrol agents in Portland on Jan. 8.
Luis David Nico Moncada and Yorlenys Betzabeth Zambrano-Contreras were non-fatally shot after allegedly attempting to ram their truck into federal agents during a targeted stop in east Portland. The pair fled the scene and then called 911 for assistance. Almost immediately, details of the shooting were leaked to the extremist group PDX ICE Watch by a Multnomah County first responder.
The photo was taken of a computer system inside a first responder vehicle. According to sourcing, it was not a Portland Police in-car computer system. It could be from the Portland Street Response, Portland Fire, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, an ambulance driver or another first responder in the county. It is unlikely the county will investigate the leak to the anti-ICE radical group.
You read that right. A city employee leaked the information to a radical anti-ICE group, and then city and state officials raced in front of the cameras to attack ICE and defend the criminals who tried to kill ICE agents.
The incident sparked an extraordinary press conference by Oregon and city officials — all Democrats — who condemned the federal agents and expressed sympathy for the accused foreign gang associates, repeatedly referring to them as “victims.” Portland Mayor Keith Wilson said he did not believe DHS’s account. Rep. Janelle Bynum, who represents part of the Portland area, issued an official statement declaring: “This isn’t law enforcement, it’s state-sponsored terrorism. Stop fucking with us.”
According to DHS, Zambrano-Contreras, the female passenger, is an illegal migrant who entered the U.S. through Texas in 2023 and was released into the interior under the Biden administration. DHS says she played “an active role in a Tren de Aragua prostitution ring” and was involved in a prior shooting in Portland. Her online profiles advertise prostitution services in the city.
Portland Police tried to hide the fact that these criminals were in fact Tren de Aragua members, because it might change how people think of the “victims.” It is important to generate as much hate as possible against the federal government, and if it were known that they were violent criminals involved in other shootings, it might make that task more difficult.

This is in line with the Philadelphia Sheriff’s attacks on ICE. She even denied that ICE officers were legitimate law enforcement and urged people to commit crimes against them. She did so surrounded by Democrat officials.

And the Philly D.A. is threatening ICE agents. Criminals may not have to fear the law, but those trying to apprehend them apparently should.

What goes through the mind of law enforcement officers who believe it is their job to defend criminals and to attack federal officials? How have we gotten to the point where a Police Chief cries when describing violent gang members and sex traffickers as “victims?”
