Ted Cruz says Nikki Haley will drop out ’18 hours after South Carolina’

Former President Donald Trump’s last rival standing in 2016 said Wednesday evening that this time it’s already over.

Sen. Ted Cruz, Texas Republican, said on Fox News Channel that former Gov. Nikki Haley’s presidential bid will de facto “end in South Carolina” when Mr. Trump secures another win there.

“New Hampshire was Nikki’s last stance. She put everything in, she had every moderate, every ‘never Trumper’ billionaire behind her and she lost. She lost by 11 points,” Mr. Cruz said on “The Ingraham Angle.”

The former president “won decisively in New Hampshire. He is the nominee,” Mr. Cruz said.

The senator said the race will continue through the South Carolina primary, set for Feb. 24 because Ms. Haley, a former Palmetto State governor, has “lots of people writing her checks that hate Donald Trump, but this race will end in South Carolina.”

Mr. Cruz predicted that the Trump victory will not be “by a little bit. He’s gonna win by double digits, it could be a 30-point victory like Iowa.”

“My prediction right now is Nikki will drop out 18 hours after South Carolina. After that, you cannot go on,” he concluded.
