Rep. Mike Collins praises protesters who taunted Black woman with monkey noises in a shared video

A Republican lawmaker shared a video where he praised counter-protesters at the University of Mississippi who made racist taunts toward a Black woman.

About two dozen pro-Palestinian protesters gathered on the Ole Miss campus on Thursday, but they were quickly outnumbered when a group of hundreds of counter-protesters came to demonstrate against them.

A video shared by Rep. Mike Collins, Georgia Republican, on X showed a mass of mostly white counter protestors taunting a black woman by making monkey noises, chanting “lock her up,” reciting the National Anthem.

Ole Miss taking care of business,” Mr. Collins said on X.

Mr. Collins is no stranger to posting caustic material on social media — the lawmaker came under fire earlier this year for sharing an antisemitic social media account’s post pointing out that a reporter was Jewish.

The lawmaker was also one of less than 100 members who voted against a bill earlier this week that would have broadened the definition of antisemitism following the wave of so-called antisemitic protests on college campuses.
