Powerball jackpot up to $1 billion for next drawing

After no one won the Powerball jackpot in Wednesday night’s drawing, the prize for the next drawing on Saturday is up to $1 billion.

The winning numbers Wednesday were white balls 10, 16, 29, 33 and 69, along with red ball 22, for a prize of $930 million.

Now the jackpot has hit the billion mark, the second time in 2025 following a $1.787 billion prize won on Sept. 6 with tickets bought in Missouri and Texas, the second-largest in the lottery’s history.

There have been 42 drawings without a jackpot winner since that prize was won, tying the Powerball record for consecutive draws in a jackpot cycle, Powerball said.

At $1 billion, Saturday’s prize would be the seventh-largest jackpot in Powerball history if won.

If someone does win it all Saturday, he or she will choose between two payout options before taxes: an immediate lump sum of $461.3 million or a smaller immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments, each 5% larger than the last.

If the jackpot manages to grow beyond $1.08 billion before Saturday’s drawing, it will pass a prize won with a ticket bought in California in 2023 to become the sixth-largest jackpot in Powerball history.

Powerball tickets cost $2 and are for sale in the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and every state with the exception of Alaska, Alabama, Hawaii, Nevada and Utah.
