Police in northwest Oregon said they found over a dozen frozen puppies inside a home Friday that authorities believe were used to feed a resident’s pet snakes.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office said they found the 18 frozen pups while executing a search warrant Friday in Goble.
The sheriff’s office said they received the warrant after animal control was tipped off about a resident freezing the puppy litters in order to use them as snake food.
Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife officials seized the frozen puppies and at least one snake during the search, according to police.
Authorities said there were several snakes inside the home. The puppies’ cause of death still has to be determined.
The sheriff’s office said the investigation is still ongoing. No charges have been announced at this time.
Goble is about 40 miles northwest of Portland.
