A migrant in Wichita, Kansas, is behind bars after a Ring doorbell camera allegedly recorded him dragging away a screaming woman.
The Wichita Police Department arrested the 22-year-old Daniel Espitia Guevara on Tuesday for aggravated battery by strangulation, two counts of domestic simple battery and criminal restraint.
Mr. Guevara is also subject to an immigration detainer from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, according to the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office.
The video showed the woman, who was unnamed by the Wichita Police Department, being dragged away from the door with the camera at about 2 a.m. Saturday.
After Wichita police publicized the incident and asked for information, a 35-year-old woman called Tuesday afternoon and identified herself as the woman in the video. Police investigators interviewed her at Wichita City Hall. Police believe the incident was domestic violence.
The woman, Wichita police said, did not have “any significant injuries.”
Police sent the case to the Sedgwick County District Attorney so that prosecutors can consider formally charging him.
