Mega Millions jackpot jumps to $735 million, would be sixth-largest prize in lottery’s history

After nobody hit it big in Friday’s drawing, the Mega Millions jackpot for Tuesday has jumped to $735 million. If it is won, it would be the sixth-largest prize in the lottery’s history.

The numbers for Friday were white balls 19, 20, 22, 47, 58 and the gold “Mega Ball,” 1. To win the jackpot, a player has to match all five white balls, which have numbers 1-70, as well as the gold ball, which has numbers 1-25.

If a winner hits the jackpot Tuesday, they will be paid a lump cash sum of $356.7 million, Mega Millions said in a release. There is also the annuity option, wherein a player takes a smaller immediate sum followed by 29 annual payments each 5% larger than the last.

The most recent Mega Millions jackpot won was hit by a pair of tickets bought at a Chevron gas station in Encino, California, drawn on Dec. 8, 2023, per the lottery’s website. There have been 26 drawings since.

Mega Millions tickets are sold in 45 states, D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The $2 tickets are not available in Alabama, Utah, Nevada, Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico.
