LinkedIn launches games in bid to keep users engaged

Job networking site LinkedIn jumped into the gaming sphere this week with three new logic and word puzzles.

The games, Queens, Pinpoint and Crossclimb, opened for LinkedIn users Wednesday under the My Network tab. Each game can be played once a day, and users will have access to their stats like a high score and the scores of their friends. 

Crossclimb is similar to The New York Times’ wildly popular Wordle, with users rearranging words to find the correct one. 



Pinpoint is most similar to The Times’ newest hit, Connections. In LinkedIn’s version, users try to fit five words into a single category. 

Queens is a play on Sudoku, where users are instructed to rearrange queens on a grid until there is only one per row. 

LinkedIn’s new games could be an easy way to engage with a younger audience and keep them returning daily. While all of the games are free, they could become an important revenue source for the social media platform, which also sells premium subscriptions.
