Lankford Border Bill Empowers Impeachment-Bound DHS Secretary Mayorkas

This could only happen in Washington DC, with today’s  schizophrenic Republican Party – at the same time Senate “Republicans” (using that party identification loosely) led by Oklahoma Uniparty Senator James Lankford are negotiating a border bill that would give all kinds of new authority to Department of Homeland Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, House

Republicans are impeaching him for violating “his oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, to bear true faith and allegiance to the same, and to well and faithfully discharge the duties of his office, has willfully and systemically refused to comply with Federal immigration laws.”

According to the Articles of impeachment Mayorkas had “repeatedly violated laws enacted by Congress regarding immigration and border security.”

So, why would Senate Republicans like Lankford and McConnell want to give him more power? Read on to understand just how insane that idea is.

“In large part because of his unlawful conduct, millions of aliens have illegally entered the United States on an annual basis with many unlawfully remaining in the United States,” the document continued. “His refusal to obey the law is not only an offense against the separation of powers in the Constitution of the United States, it also threatens our national security and has had a dire impact on communities across the country,” the Articles of Impeachment charge.

According to reporting by our friends at Blaze Media, between the fiscal years 2017 through 2020, there were a combined 11 individuals on the terrorist watchlist caught attempting to cross the U.S. southern border. However, there were an alarming 169 non-citizens on the terrorist watchlist trying to enter the country in fiscal year 2023. So far in 2024, there have been 49 possible terrorists detained at the border.

And this alarming list doesn’t even include the thousands of Communist Chinese who bear all the hallmarks of Special Forces operators who have been welcomed into the United States under the watch of Biden and Mayorkas.

The Articles of Impeachment further charged, “Despite clear evidence that his willful and systemic refusal to comply with the law has significantly contributed to unprecedented levels of illegal entrants, the increased control of the Southwest border by drug cartels, and the imposition of enormous costs on States and localities affected by the influx of aliens, Alejandro N. Mayorkas has continued in his refusal to comply with the law, and thereby acted to the grave detriment of the interests of the United States.”

Blaze further reported that that there was an average of 590,000 illegal immigrants encountered at ports of entry on the Southwest border during the fiscal years of 2017 through 2020. During Mayorkas’ tenure, the numbers skyrocketed to more than 1,400,000 in fiscal year 2021, over 2,300,000 in fiscal year 2022, and a whopping 2,400,000 in fiscal year 2023.

Chairman Mark Green led all Republican members of the House Committee on Homeland Security in calling for the U.S. House of Representatives to impeach Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

“After our nearly year-long investigation and subsequent impeachment proceedings, and having exhausted all other options to hold him accountable, it is unmistakably clear to all of us—and to the American people—that Congress must exercise its constitutional duty and impeach Secretary Mayorkas. The Secretary has consistently, willfully, and systemically refused to follow the laws passed by Congress, abused his authority, and breached the trust of Congress and the American people on numerous occasions. The result of his failure to fulfill his oath of office has been a border crisis that is unprecedented in American history—a crisis that has cost the lives of thousands of Secretary Mayorkas’ fellow Americans.”

This hearing, titled, “Voices for the Victims: The Heartbreaking Reality of the Mayorkas Border Crisis,” examined the devastating impact of Secretary Mayorkas’ intentional border crisis on Americans, including testimony from moms who have been forever impacted by his refusal to enforce the laws of the United States. Unfortunately, Secretary Mayorkas chose to meet with Mexican officials rather than testify before Congress and face these mothers.

Last week, the Committee held its first impeachment hearing titled, “Havoc in the Heartland: How Secretary Mayorkas’ Failed Leadership Has Impacted the States.” These hearings follow the Committee’s nearly year-long investigation into the causes, costs, and consequences of the unprecedented crisis at America’s borders and the impact on Americans and Tennesseans. On Jan. 10, the Committee held its first hearing as part of the proceedings, hearing testimony from three state attorneys general. All agreed that, in addition to the crisis wreaking havoc in their states, they believed Secretary Mayorkas’ actions rise to the level of impeachable offenses.

Speaker of the House Mike Johnson stated on CBS’ “Face the Nation” earlier this month, “Our Homeland Security Committee has done its job. They have a constitutional responsibility, a legal responsibility, to investigate what is happening with the agency that they have oversight for. They’ve done that for a year, very methodically, carefully, in detail. And they’ve documented all that.” House Majority Leader Steve Scalise noted similarly, “The Homeland Security Committee has laid out tremendous evidence for impeachment. They’ve been building a strong case for months now. And the case is overwhelming.” And House Majority Whip Tom Emmer said, “Mark Green I think is running a very fair process. It’s been deliberate, it’s been thoughtful, it’s exactly what the House is supposed to do as far as oversight.

Throughout the five-phase investigation that culminated in these impeachment proceedings, the Committee published detailed reports of its findings, totaling nearly 400 pages, which are linked below:

These reports conclusively establish that Secretary Mayorkas is chiefly responsible for the chaos and devastation that has unfolded at America’s borders over the past three years. His willful and systemic refusal to follow the laws passed by Congress has incentivized unprecedented mass illegal immigration. He has abused his power by directing his Department to implement policies contrary to federal statute and abandoning viable enforcement initiatives, and he has breached the public trust by willfully misleading Congress and the American people on numerous occasions about the consequences of his decisions and the operational realities on the border. As a result of his refusal to follow the law and abuse of power, the criminal cartels have been empowered, Americans and migrants alike are suffering in record numbers, and cities and states across the country are assuming massive financial costs.

As part of the investigative process, the Committee has conducted 10 full and subcommittee hearings, gathering testimony from more than two dozen witnesses. The Committee, along with the House Oversight Committee, also conducted transcribed interviews of chief and deputy chief patrol agents responsible for the Border Patrol’s nine Southwest border sectors as part of this investigation. These senior agents gave compelling insights into the many consequences of Secretary Mayorkas’ open-borders policies:

*         Never before have agents seen such historic numbers of illegal crossings

*         The expansive degree of cartel control at the Southwest border

Throughout the process, Secretary Mayorkas has refused to cooperate with Committee requests for him to appear and provide testimony on his handling of the crisis and his refusal to enforce U.S. law.

This is the guy that Senators Lankford and McConnell want to empower?
