Iran Is Using Schools for Military Command and Control, and Pravda Ignores That Fact – HotAir

Nobody should be surprised that Iran has adopted the Hamas strategy of conducting warfare out of hospitals and schools, and I suppose we shouldn’t be surprised that Pravda is covering it up.

Yet I continue to be a bit shocked at the latter, because I still can’t quite wrap my head around the idea that an institution that is key to upholding Western constitutional values would betray us in favor of the worst people on Earth.

Silly me. There really is no level of depravity to which many of these people will not stoop.

Using schools and hospitals for military purposes makes them legitimate military targets under international law, and of course, our Pravda Media is quite big on making ridiculous interpretations of international law when it suits their purposes.

During the Israel/Hamas war, we were often treated to bogus claims about Israel targeting hospitals, and much of the “genocide” narrative depended on ignoring the fact that Hamas was using human shields and operating out of hospitals. Now that the war is over, we are learning that doctors whom the media portrayed as interested only in saving lives were high-level Hamas operatives, and no doubt the media was quite well aware of that fact.

But Pravda had a fig leaf in that case: there was no photographic evidence that they were participants in the fraud and propaganda machine. We had circumstantial evidence that they did—after all, there was lots of OSINT out there making it clear, and the Israelis provided the intelligence to prove it. But we couldn’t see with our own eyes the media conspiring with Hamas to provide a false narrative.

But in this war, we can. Media figures are so anxious to give a microphone to Iranian propagandists that they will sit in schools along with the leaders and act as stenographers for the Iranian leadership.

We can see that they are in a school. We can see their microphones on the podium. We can directly correlate the reports to the briefings they sat through in schools and hospitals.

And they aren’t reporting the most salient fact: Iranian military and civilian leadership are operating out of schools and hospitals. And, no doubt, if any of these hospitals suffer damage, the same media will report the event as Israel or the United States striking civilian infrastructure.

The media still reports the Iranian propaganda that Israel or the United States struck an elementary school, killing over 100 girls, as if it is a proven fact that we hit it. Yet that same media participates in press conferences from schools without reporting this most salient fact of a war crime.

It’s impossible to overstate the betrayal of trust being displayed here. The media isn’t just aware of this; they are participating and covering it up.

No doubt they would argue that failure to do so would rob Westerners of information they should have: the perspective of the Iranians. If they reported that the briefings took place in a school, they would never be able to interview the Iranian leadership.

Yeah, well, they are robbing Western audiences of a more important fact than whatever propaganda Iran is putting out.

This is the Israel/Gaza war again: Pravda is hiding the truth.
