A hiker was found unresponsive in Utah’s Zion National Park Monday, then died after rangers tried to revive him.
The unnamed man was spotted near Scout Lookout inside the park. Park rangers moved to perform CPR as reinforcements hiked over with extra medical equipment.
After trying to resuscitate the hiker for 90 minutes, park staff called it off and, after consultation with a medical professional, declared him dead.
Park officials didn’t release the man’s name or age. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office in Utah, Utah’s Office of the Medical Examiner and the National Park Service are investigating his death.
