Harford County Sheriff’s Office releases sketch of suspect in murder of jogger Rachel Morin

Months after mother Rachel Morin was murdered while jogging on the Ma & Pa Heritage Trail in Bel Air, Maryland, the Harford County Sheriff’s Office has released a sketch of the suspect.

The images shown Monday are of the suspect with and without a red cap with a black Air Jordan logo.

Morin, 37 and a mother of five, was reported missing after failing to return from a run. Her body was recovered on Aug. 6. Police determined she was killed the day prior.

Morin was dragged off the trail and into a nearby drainage culvert. Witnesses reported seeing someone lurking in an elevated, wooded area around the trail.

“The location of the attack was chosen … because those culverts were as close as they were and they provided an area for this person to commit this crime and not be seen by members of the public,” Harford County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Andy Lane told The Baltimore Banner.

The description of that person matches that of a suspect in a March home invasion and assault in Los Angeles. Investigators have also matched DNA found at the two crime scenes.

On Aug. 17, the sheriff’s office released a home security video of the suspect exiting the Los Angeles house.

The suspect “violently and physically attacked multiple people, including a child,” before being surprised by a family member of the victims and forced out of the L.A. home, Capt. Lane said.

The suspect’s face was not visible on the video, but deputies described him as 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing about 160 pounds, 20 to 30 years old with dark hair and a muscular build.

Deputies also said he’s believed to be of Hispanic descent.

The HCSO ran the sketches by L.A. authorities, who corroborated its general accuracy.

The sheriff’s office urged anyone with a tip in the case to email [email protected].
