Gambling man: Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s gross income includes Vegas windfall

Gov. J.B. Pritzker of Illinois is a high roller, and he has the receipts to prove it.

The Democrat and his wife, Mary Kathryn Muenster, reported in their latest tax filing a joint adjusted gross income of $10.7 million — nearly quadrupling their 2023 figure of $2.8 million.

One eye-catching detail? A hefty $1.45 million of that income came from gambling winnings.

A campaign spokesperson told the Chicago Sun-Times that Mr. Pritzker “had winnings and losses from a casino” in Las Vegas.

But the spokesperson didn’t share which games fueled the governor’s lucky streak.

Mr. Pritzker is an heir to the family that founded and controls Hyatt Hotels. Forbes estimates his net worth to be $3.9 billion.

Meanwhile, the governor is thought to be laying the groundwork for a presidential run in 2028.

According to the Sun-Times, Mr. Pritzker significantly expanded gambling in Illinois by signing legislation in 2019 that legalized sports betting, authorized six new casinos, and permitted additional slot machines in bars and restaurants.
