Donald Trump slams media over coverage that he is ‘slowing down’

President Trump reprimanded the press for reporting that he is losing his stamina.

In a social media post Tuesday night, Mr. Trump said, “I go out of my way to do long, thorough, and very boring Medical Examinations at the Great Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, seen and supervised by top doctors, all of whom have given me PERFECT Marks — Some have even said they have never seen such Strong Results. I do these Tests because I owe it to our Country.”

Mr. Trump noted in his post that along with his medical exams, “on three separate occasions, the last one being recently,” he took a cognitive examination, which is something, he said, “few people would be able to do very well, including those working at The New York Times, and I ACED all three of them in front of large numbers of doctors and experts, most of whom I do not know.”

The president said he was told that “few people have been able to ‘ace’” this examination and that “most do very poorly, which is why many other Presidents have decided not to take it at all.”

He continued, “Despite all of this, the time and work involved, The New York Times, and some others, like to pretend that I am ‘slowing up,’ am maybe not as sharp as I once was, or am in poor physical health, knowing that it is not true, and knowing that I work very hard, probably harder than I have ever worked before.”

Mr. Trump said he will know when he is “slowing up” but that it is “not now.”

He said, “I actually believe it’s seditious, perhaps even treasonous, for The New York Times, and others, to consistently do FAKE reports in order to libel and demean  ‘THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.’ They are true Enemies of the People, and we should do something about it.”

In the past few months, The New York Times has reported that Mr. Trump, 79, is showing signs of “fatigue” and working “shorter” hours. Most recently, The Times’ opinion page compared Mr. Trump’s energy to former President Joseph R. Biden, whom President Trump often refers to as “Sleepy Joe Biden.”

The president disputed this in his post, saying, “The best thing to happen to this country would be if The New York Times ceased publication, because they are a horrible, biased, and untruthful ‘source’ of information.”

Mr. Trump underwent “advanced imaging” of his abdomen and cardiovascular system for “preventative” reasons during his October physical at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

The president had said the MRI conducted in October was not for his brain, and the results were “perfect.”

A memo written by White House physician Capt. Sean Barbabella said advanced imaging of the 79-year-old president’s heart and abdomen had come back “perfectly normal.”

The memo said the president was checked in October “because men in his age group benefit from thorough evaluation of cardiovascular and abdominal health.”
