Beverly Hills middle schoolers use AI to make nudes of classmates: Police

Beverly Hills police said they launched an investigation after a group of middle school students were accused of using artificial intelligence to create nude images of their classmates.

Authorities said the noncriminal investigation was initiated last week after school administrators reported that an unspecified number of students began circulating the AI-generated images around Beverly Vista Middle School.

Michael Bregy, the superintendent of the Beverly Hills Unified School District, told NBC News that the fake images contained students’ faces superimposed onto nude bodies.

Mr. Bregy said the accused students are currently not in school and could be expelled from the district, depending on the school system’s own investigation.

“We want to make it unequivocally clear that this behavior is unacceptable and does not reflect the values of our school community,” the district said in a statement to Fox News Digital. “Although we are aware of similar situations occurring all over the nation, we must act now. This behavior rises to a level that requires the entire community to work in partnership to ensure it stops immediately.”

Mr. Bregy also urged Congress and California’s state government to create laws addressing certain AI images of people without their consent.
