Bales of cocaine wash up on Texas beaches

Police in Jamaica Beach and Galveston, Texas, issued a warning to local residents recently after packages of cocaine started washing up on beaches in the towns over the weekend.

The bales of cocaine washed up in the two neighboring towns Sunday, Jamaica Beach officials said on Facebook. They theorized that the packages came from a police raid on a drug-smuggling boat offshore.

During the raid, people on board the boat started tossing narcotic contraband overboard, the city officials said, resulting in the drugs washing ashore. Jamaica Beach officials urged residents to call the police if they find any of the suspicious packages.

A picture posted on Facebook by officials shows rectangular packages wrapped in blue plastic with a picture on them showing a tiger in a jungle scene and “7-P” written in large, green letters.

Officials didn’t specify how much cocaine has washed ashore.
