Marjorie Taylor Greene eyes new title: Madame Secretary

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is hoping for a job in a future Trump administration, and she figures she’d be a perfect fit for one in particular: secretary of Homeland Security.

Ms. Greene told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that’s where the action will be.

“I’d be honored to serve President Trump in his next administration in any capacity that he asks me. But I’m certainly particularly interested in Homeland Security. I think it’s the top issue in the country,” she said at a stop in Greenville, South Carolina, this week ahead of Saturday’s GOP presidential primary.

She said she feels “capable for that role.”

Her comments come a week after she helped impeach Homeland Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas in the House. The Democratic-led Senate probably won’t convict and remove him, and Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer might not even bring the process to trial.

Ms. Greene, Georgia Republican, has been a fierce critic of Mr. Mayorkas from her perch on the House Homeland Security Committee, regularly berating the secretary.

“How many more people do we have to watch die?” she demanded in one hearing last year. After she called Mr. Mayorkas a liar, the committee rebuked her.
