Car crashes through terminal entrance at Detroit airport, injuring 6

A car drove into the entrance of McNamara Terminal at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport on Friday, injuring six people.

The car hit a ticket counter at around 7:30 p.m., and the airport’s fire department leaped into action, treating six people, though officials did not specify the nature of their injuries.

The unidentified driver was taken into custody after what officials called a “mental episode” while steering his Mercedes into the terminal.

A video posted by local media source TCD News shows a man in a black Detroit Lions jersey being detained after the crash, though officials have not confirmed whether the man in the footage is responsible for the incident.

Police dogs searched the car afterward and did not find anything of note or concern, according to Detroit’s WJBK.
