Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey lashed out at ICE after one of its officers shot and killed an anti-ICE protester during a confrontation Wednesday, blaming the federal agency for creating the chaos that led to the shooting.
“To ICE, get the f*** out of Minneapolis. We do not want you here,” the mayor said in a combative press conference.
He also rejected Homeland Security’s version of the shooting, which said the 37-year-old woman tried to ram her vehicle into officers from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
“That is bull——,” the mayor said.
He said he’d reviewed a video of the confrontation and said he saw no indication the woman was trying to strike officers.
“This was an agent recklessly using power, that resulted in somebody dying,” the mayor said.
