Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has reportedly lost staffers who claim they’re sick of the disorganization and bad leadership.
Since the start of the year, 14 members have resigned, multiple sources told Mediaite. One anonymous source shared that most of the turmoil is caused by Amaryllis Fox Kennedy, Mr. Kennedy’s daughter-in-law and campaign manager, along with Del Bigtree, an anti-vaccine activist who acts as the campaign’s communications director.
The source described the two as “making decisions based on their own personal advancement opportunities and not acting in the best interest of the candidate.”
“The campaign is a mess because upper management consists of people who are serving their own needs rather than the candidate’s,” one source shared. “There is no one with any political experience, and it shows.”
The recent release of a Federal Election Commission report revealing large payments to campaign leaders shocked some rank-and-file workers. Ms. Bigtree’s firm KFP Consulting was paid $35,000 in December and made $90,000 off the campaign in total. Campaign Chief Operating Officer Matthew Sanders’ company, Starlight Saint, makes $21,000 a month. More Beautiful World, the LLC registered to campaign adviser Charles Eisenstein, made $21,667 a month in the last three months of 2023.
The workers noted a time when Mr. Bigtree joined a Zoom call from a ski resort.
“Del is running around spending money lavishly,” another source said. “He’s doing Zoom calls from the slopes with champagne while many people are volunteers and not getting paid.”
Another source compared the campaign to a spring break party cruise.
“Del has been heard on multiple occasions saying, ‘We are like rock stars, and this is like being on tour with a rock band,” the source said.
Ms. Fox Kennedy said in a statement, “Team Kennedy has great folks come and go depending on the needs of each phase of the campaign. As the most successful independent campaign of the last three decades, we wish them nothing but the best.”
She added, “NBC’s latest poll has RFK at 34% with nine months still ahead, and we are laser-focused on delivering a historic victory for our country this November.”
