President Trump endorsed Trever Nehls, the identical twin of retiring Rep. Troy Nehls, for the Texas House seat his brother has held.
Mr. Trump hailed Trever Nehls as a “MAGA Warrior [who] WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN” and praised his retiring brother as a “GREAT Congressman.”
“As a former Fort Bend County Constable, and retired U.S. Army Colonel, Trever strongly supports our incredible Law Enforcement, Military, and Veterans, and knows the Wisdom and Courage it takes to Ensure LAW AND ORDER,” he wrote on Truth Social Thursday.
“In Congress, Trever will work hard to Keep our now very Secure Border, SECURE, Stop Migrant Crime, Grow our Economy, Cut Taxes and Regulations, Promote MADE IN THE U.S.A, Advance American DOMINANCE, Champion Election Integrity, and Defend our always under siege Second Amendment,” he said.
Trever Nehls said he was honored to have the president’s endorsement and said he will “work tirelessly to secure the opportunity to represent TX-22 in Congress and stand by President Trump to secure our homeland, lower costs, and usher in a new golden age of America.”
Troy Nehls announced he was retiring late last month so he could “focus on my family and return home after this Congress.”
The Texas Republican is a staunch Trump supporter and held his seat since 2021. He said that he called Mr. Trump to let him know that he was retiring.
“President Trump has always been a strong ally for our district and a true friend, and I wanted him to hear it from me first,” he said. “Serving this country in the military, serving our community in law enforcement, and serving this district in Congress has been the honor of my life. Thank you for your trust, your friendship, and your prayers.”
His twin announced his bid for the seat shortly after he announced his retirement.
“District 22 needs a Representative who will follow in Troy’s footsteps and stand shoulder-to-shoulder with President Trump to defend our conservative values, secure the border, protect our families, and oppose the reckless and radical agenda that Democrats continue to press upon the American people,” Trever Nehls wrote. “I’m ready to take up that fight.”
