Donald Trump says he has ‘recommendations for RNC Growth’ to be revealed after S.C. primary

Former President Donald Trump suggested that there could be changes made to the Republican National Committee after the South Carolina primary.

“Ronna [McDaniel] is now Head of the RNC, and I’ll be making a decision the day after the South Carolina Primary as to my recommendations for RNC Growth,” he posted Monday on Truth Social.

The post came after the two met at his Mar-a-Lago estate, Politico reported.

In the post he called Mrs. McDaniel a “friend” and talked about how he won Michigan in 2016, when she was chair of the Michigan Republican Party.

In a Fox News interview Sunday, Mr. Trump forecasted that changes are on the horizon for the committee.

“I think she did great when she ran Michigan for me. I think she did OK, initially, in the RNC,” he said. “I would say right now, there’ll probably be some changes made.”

Mrs. McDaniel has been the RNC chair since 2017. She has been criticized in recent months for her performance as leader, with critics pointing out seats that have been lost under her tenure and calling for her to resign.

People have also been curious about the party’s finances heading into the presidential election.

Still, Mr. Trump, who is the leading candidate to win the party’s nomination, said in his post that “things are looking great in the Presidential Race of 2024 against Crooked Joe Biden.”

“We have Leads, in many cases substantial, in virtually every Head-to-Head Poll,” he said.

He also called former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, his rival for the GOP presidential nomination, a “very unpopular candidate” who he will “finish off” in the South Carolina primary.
