Kamala’s Book Selling Like Hotcakes, but to Whom? – HotAir

Is it possible that Kamala Harris is a lot more popular than the conventional wisdom suggests?

Anything is possible, I suppose. I still hold out hope that brilliant physicists will discover propulsion methods that don’t require fuel mass and a means of faster-than-light travel, so I obviously have room in my brain to consider implausible things.

Republicans can hope that Kamala Harris remains politically viable within the Democratic Party because the most entertaining debate in human history would be one between Kamala Harris and J.D. Vance, and our chance at reaching 1972 Nixon-level electoral college numbers would increase exponentially.

And…there is some potential evidence that Harris still has a significant base of support, or at least more people interested in enjoying heaping quantities of word salad for lunch.

You read that right. Kamala Harris’ book 107 Days is, if the numbers are right, a big hit.

yOne would expect there to be some market for a tell-all book, of course. The 2024 presidential campaign was bizarre, and political junkies are always up for a book that reveals the dirty secrets.

But interest this high? Who could have predicted it?

Not me. And, perhaps, those numbers are inflated by bulk purchases, as often happens with political books. Interest groups often try to buy favor with political figures whom they cannot easily bribe in other ways, but even that explanation assumes that these groups think she has a legitimate shot at being more important than Dan Quayle in 1993.

And, for all the ridicule, Quayle was actually pretty smart. Kamala is not.

There is evidence that a portion of the Party base wants to see and hear from Harris, and it’s not just due to book sales. She is on a speaking tour, and it will take a significant amount of money to attend a Harris event.

Astronomical prices to see a politician are par for the course during a campaign, but generally speaking, only corporations are willing to shell out big bucks to has-been politicians, and they do so because they hope that by buying the loyalty of ex-politicians, they can get influence with their friends still in power.

Such people do not fill auditoriums, unless it is a Kennedy Center event they are obliged to attend.

The Democratic Party establishment is more than done with Kamala, but it is just possible that the AWFLs still love her. These are people who blow big bucks to get insulted at Race2Dinner soirees, after all.

So while The Washington Post is dropping bunker buster bombs on Kamala’s head, perhaps the Karens will keep her political prospects afloat.

Stranger things have happened. Nobody expected Elon Musk to land rockets, either.
