Remains found in Washington state thought to belong to man accused of killing his 3 daughters

Authorities in Washington state say they found remains they believe belong to Travis Decker, 32, who was accused in June of killing his three daughters.

The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office said on social media Thursday that a search this week from multiple law enforcement agencies turned up the remains in a wooded area south of Leavenworth, Washington. DNA analysis of the remains is ongoing, but authorities believe they’re Decker’s, the sheriff’s office said.

Decker’s daughters were reported missing on May 30 after he failed to return them to their mother following a scheduled visitation.

Law enforcement began their search for Decker on June 2 when Chelan County sheriff’s deputies found his truck and the bodies of Paityn, 9, Evelyn, 8, and Olivia, 5, near Leavenworth, according to The Associated Press.

Their wrists were bound with zip ties, and autopsies found they died from suffocation. DNA analysis at the scene led law enforcement to look into Decker as the sole suspect, according to CBS News.

Decker’s remains were found on a mountain a few miles from where the bodies of his daughters were found, Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrison told Seattle’s KIRO-TV.
