President Biden went to New York on Thursday for a celebrity-hosted fundraiser. His gaffetastic week continued.
About 100 guests attended the event at the home of actor Michael Douglas and his actress wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones in Westchester. The visit closed roads and schools around the Village of Irvington. Anti-Israel protesters took to the streets. According to the White House pool report, Zeta-Jones was not in attendance.
The presidential entourage mucked up the goings-on in the village.
Biden arrived at John F. Kennedy International Airport at 4:30 p.m. and flew to the Westchester County Airport, where he arrived around 5:45 p.m., reported News12 Westchester.
Broadway (Route 9) from White Plains Road (Route 119) in Tarrytown to the Village of Irvington was shut down for the event.
The Ardsley Unified Free School District, Hastings-on-Hudson District, the Washington Irvington School, Morse School, and Paulding School all had early dismissals on Thursday to avoid traffic.
Only a couple of notable names were mentioned as in attendance – fashion designer Eileen Fisher and Wall Street attorney Rodge Cohen. Maybe other public figures didn’t want to be singled out. Who would blame them?
Ticket prices ranged from $3,300 for one person to $100,000 for top donors.
Michael Douglas has been beclowning himself in interviews by vouching for Biden’s mental acuity, saying Biden is sharp as a tack. He thinks voters are stupid. Douglas is 79 years old.
Gaffe-prone Dementia Joe tried to slam Donald Trump with a reference to January 6, 2021, but he said June 6 instead. ‘We’ll certainly never forget the dark days of June 6 – January 6th, excuse me.” June 6 is D-Day, the anniversary of U.S. troops storming the beach at Normandy during WWII.
Biden’s remarks didn’t get any better, though he likely thought he was really nailing his opponent, the former president.
The president joked that he has something in common with Douglas, ‘We both married way above our stations,’ he said.
He went on to slam his political opponent for failures during his presidency, even joking about his hair.
‘We’ll never forget lying about Covid and telling the American people to inject bleach in their arms. He injected it in his hair,’ Biden said.
‘We’ll never forget his love letters to Kim Jong Un. We’ll never forget him wanting tear gas on peaceful protesters and holding the Bible upside down.’
Referring to Trump’s hush money criminal trial, Biden said, ‘I haven’t had a chance to watch the court proceedings because I’ve been campaigning.’
That’s the point, Joe. Trump is sitting in a courtroom and Biden is fundraising and doing (small) campaign events.
The number three attorney in the Biden DOJ left his post to be part of the prosecution team against Trump in the trial he is now enduring in Manhattan. Where’s the outrage? The corruption and bare-knuckle politics playing out with the use of lawfare to keep Trump in a courtroom and off the campaign trail until November is astounding. It is unprecedented, not normal. What happened to a return to normal? This is banana republic stuff.
Other ironic statements would include Biden mocking anyone else over coloring their hair or even cosmetic surgery. Joe Biden’s vanity is well-known. His hair plugs and frequent use of Botox are not secrets. C’mon, man.
Speaking of lying about COVID, what about the teacher unions demanding schools remain closed when science always proved that children were not spreading the virus at school? They milked it for all they could, including keeping schools closed for almost two years in some places, teacher pay increases, and other perks as they took advantage of the pandemic. It was always all about the teachers, not the children. The students continue to pay the price for the pandemic shutdowns and may never catch up in reading and math skills. Thanks, Joe and Jill.
Biden pretended he is doing well in polls and said, ‘I know not everyone’s feeling the enthusiasm.” That is not the joke Old Yeller thinks it is.
And, he included a joke he is really proud about – ‘The other day a defeated-looking guy said he was feeling’ crushed by debt. I said “Donald, I know”.’ The economy is a top concern for voters. Biden’s handling of it is way underwater compared to Trump’s.
A majority of Democrats are not enthusiastic about Biden running for re-election. He has nothing to run on. There’s abortion and climate change. He said his election was about saving democracy but he has turned America on a path to Marxism. He is beholden to the Hamas wing of the Democrat Party to try to win Michigan in November. It’s a state he must win in order to be re-elected. As unthinkable as it is, Biden is waffling and throwing Israel under the bus to appease Muslim voters.
Biden remained in New York overnight. I haven’t seen any press coverage of Scranton Joe reaching out to regular working Americans. Since Trump’s trial began, there has been video of a trip to a bodega and a construction site by the former president.
Biden made time, instead, for an interview with shock jock Howard Stern this morning. When asked about debating Trump, Biden replied, “I am somewhere. I don’t know when. I’m happy to debate him.”
How long before someone on the Biden campaign has to walk that back? It won’t take long. Joe Biden will not be debating Donald Trump. He can’t. He reads directions off the teleprompter with his remarks. This week he delivered a line, “Four more years,” meaning he needs that to keep Trump from returning to the White House, and then read, “Pause.” The audience was confused, of course, and began to chant, “Four more years.” Biden showed a look of surprise on his face, clearly confused. What a mess. Sadly, this is the leader of the free world.
Imagine the contrast of Trump and Biden on a debate stage together. Trump is no spring chicken, at the age of 77, but he is the sharp one and his mental acuity is still cooking. I don’t think his handlers will risk voters seeing the side-by-side comparison.
The RNC and Team Trump are eager to set up a debate.
Chris LaCivita, Trump campaign senior adviser, quickly responded to Biden’s remarks on the social media site X: “OK let’s set it up!” The Trump campaign had said the former president is “willing to debate anytime, any place and anywhere,” although Trump did not participate in any of the Republican primary debates this cycle.
Now we wait for the clean-up.
