Police in Washington state said they arrested a man early Sunday after he fatally stabbed a stranger in the middle of a casino.
Auburn police said the 31-year-old suspect, who wasn’t identified, walked up behind the 29-year-old male victim, who also wasn’t identified, and plunged a knife into his neck around 1:30 a.m. Sunday at the Muckleshoot Casino Resort.
The man was arrested without incident and is currently booked at the King County Jail.
Preliminarily, authorities said the attack was “completely random” and the victim and suspect “had no contact before the incident.”
“This is extremely terrifying,” Auburn police spokesman Kolby Crossley told Seattle NBC affiliate KING-TV. “And when people hear it, read about it, it makes them not want to go outside.”
Mr. Crossley said the notion that it was a random attack is supported by surveillance footage and witness statements.
