Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is reiterating her threat to oust House Speaker Mike Johnson, but isn’t saying when she would do it.
Ms. Greene was pressed Sunday by Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo on her plan to remove Mr. Johnson, Louisiana Republican, from his leadership position.
“Mike Johnson has betrayed America. He’s betrayed Republican voters. Under his leadership, he’s passed the Democrat agenda, passed the Biden administration’s policies, and fully funded them,” the Georgia Republican said on “Sunday Morning Futures.” “We’re going to fight in Congress to do everything we can to stop this type of uniparty leadership.”
“Mike Johnson’s speakership is over. He needs to do the right thing to resign and allow us to move forward in a controlled process,” she said. “If he doesn’t do so, he will be vacated.”
When Ms. Bartiromo again asked her about her plan, Ms. Greene repeated her threat.
“It’s coming, regardless of what Mike Johnson decides to do,” she said. “And we have three more Republicans joining us for the special elections coming up very soon. So people need to know this can happen.”

Ms. Greene filed the motion to vacate against Mr. Johnson last month after he supported a bipartisan government funding bill. She has continuously spoken of removing him for the speakership, but has not yet called for a vote.
Two GOP lawmakers, Reps. Thomas Massie of Kentucky and Paul Gosar of Arizona, have recently joined her motion to vacate.
Ms. Greene has been criticized on both sides of the aisle for the threat, with more Republicans of late joining calls for her to stop. Ms. Bartiromo pointed out that lawmakers have said her threat is causing chaos in the House.
“Those that are calling this drama are the very people that are responsible for the drama that the American people are having to live through every single day,” Ms. Greene said. “Those on the left, those on the right, the uniparty that’s in control of our government are the ones that have inflicted the American people with nearly $35 trillion in debt, ripped our border wide open.”
