Kennedy family to endorse Biden over RFK Jr.

Members of the Kennedy family are set to endorse President Biden at a campaign event in Philadelphia Thursday.

The Kennedys have often been critical of the third-party presidential bid of family member Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and their appearance at a Biden campaign event only solidifies how they feel.

Kerry Kennedy, the younger sister of Mr. Kennedy, will be the one speaking at the event, talking about the family’s support for Mr. Biden.

“President Biden has been a champion for all the rights and freedoms that my father and uncles stood for,” Kerry Kennedy will say in prepared remarks shared by the Biden campaign.

“I can only imagine how Donald Trump’s outrageous lies and behavior would have horrified my father, Robert F. Kennedy, who proudly served as attorney general of the United States and honored his pledge to uphold the law and protect the country,” she will say.

After the speech, the family will join Mr. Biden and volunteers at a grassroots event where they will make campaign phone calls and knock on doors.

Mr. Biden has long been friendly with the Kennedys and last month hosted a group of them at the White House for St. Patrick’s Day. The independent presidential candidate was not in attendance.

Democrats worry that support for Mr. Kennedy will pull votes away from Mr. Biden.

Mr. Kennedy’s campaign has caused rumbling on the left over his views against vaccines and describing those involved in the Jan. 6, 2021, protest on the Capitol as “activists” who were “stripped of their constitutional liberties.”
