In campaign video, Donald Trump compares his election to magnitude of solar eclipse

Former President Donald Trump used the excitement over the solar eclipse to launch a new campaign video on Truth Social.

The one minute, 25-second video, posted late Sunday, starts off with footage showing the sun zooming out before cutting to groups of people staring up at the sky donning eclipse glasses.

“The most important moment in human history is taking place in 2024,” the screen reads.

Cheers are heard as a figure starts to cover the sun and form an eclipse, which is quickly revealed to be Mr. Trump’s shadow.

More crowds of people cheering and wearing their eclipse glasses are shown before the frame freezes on a total eclipse of the former president’s silhouette over the sun.

“We will save America and make it great again,” the screen reads. The video closes with “Trump 2024” as people are heard chanting “U.S.A.”

People across the country Monday are looking up at the sky at the rare eclipse, which is most noticeable on a path from Texas to Vermont. It will be the last visible solar eclipse in the U.S. for 20 years.

Mr. Trump is the presumptive presidential nominee for the Republican Party.
