Foul play feared after two mothers go missing in rural Oklahoma

Oklahoma investigators say they believe foul play is behind the disappearance of two mothers in a remote part of the state over the weekend.

The state’s Bureau of Investigation said it is still searching for Veronica Butler, 27, and Jilian Kelley, 39, after their car was found abandoned Saturday about 11 miles south of the Kansas border.

No arrests have been made in the case, according to authorities.

Police said the women were going to pick up Ms. Butler’s children for a birthday party when they vanished.

“There’s every reason to believe that they could be in danger,” bureau spokesperson Hunter McKee told ABC News. “It was a very rural area. They’re nowhere to be found … we’ve had no contact with them for this long.”

The missing women were acquainted with each other and are involved with church congregations in Hugoton, Kansas, according to Tim Singer, the pastor at Ms. Butler’s church.

Mr. Singer told ABC that Ms. Kelley is married to the pastor of Hugoton First Christian Church.
