Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has collected enough petition signatures to get on the ballot in North Carolina, according to his campaign.
“We have the field teams, volunteers, legal teams, paid circulators, supporters and strategists ready to get the job done,” campaign press secretary Stefanie Spear said Monday in a statement.
The campaign says Mr. Kennedy’s supporters formed the “We The People” political party in North Carolina and five other states, which allows him to qualify for the ballot with fewer signatures than usual.
North Carolina is expected to be a key battleground state. Former President Donald Trump won the Tar Heel State in 2020 by less than 2 percentage points.
Mr. Kennedy is officially on the ballot only in Utah, but the campaign has said it has collected enough signatures to make it onto the ballot in Nevada, Hawaii and New Hampshire, along with North Carolina.
American Values 2024, a super PAC affiliated with Mr. Kennedy, has said it has collected enough signatures for him to be on the ballot in Michigan, South Carolina, Arizona and Georgia.
Mr. Kennedy’s campaign is hoping the addition of tech lawyer Nicole Shanahan as his running mate will give people more reason to get involved and help him get on the ballot.
