Imagine a United States with a lot fewer or no people with Trump Derangement Syndrome. Imagine they suddenly become sane, and we could have conversations about how we can work together to at least solve the problems we can agree need solving, and find ways to compromise on issues where we can’t agree.
Wouldn’t politics be a lot better?
If he were alive today, John Lennon might sing about how much the world would improve, because the idea certainly has an appeal.
But that isn’t in the cards, and very few of the people who promised they would leave the country should Trump win in 2024 followed through, and for those who did, most have continued to blather on about how Trump and his supporters are evil fascists.
So it goes, so it goes, as Kurt Vonnegut would say.
But what about those who follow through, and who don’t have tens of millions of dollars to ensure a soft landing? What happens to them?

Nothing good. They often find out that the places they imagined as utopias turn out to be… no place at all. They aren’t at all as they imagined them, and the people who live there are not exactly thrilled to have to deal with the mentally ill people who wind up begging to live there.
I guess they have too many Muslim rapists to deal with, and the last thing they need is more liberals to muck up the works.

If you read conservative media or follow the issue on X, a number of prominent cases keep popping up, and it’s hard to tell whether they are examples of a larger phenomenon (they probably are, but most people who threatened to leave the US rapidly decided that they would gut it out and spend countless hours protesting in the streets instead if they are poor, and others will use their platforms as they get awards for being liberal icons to bitch about Trump and the fascists they all imagine we are), or outliers who are convenient foils for us to make fun of (they probably are that too).
But I sometimes feel a bit sad for these people, as one does for an addict or schizophrenic who is a victim of their own delusions or weakness. After all, there really are few places where it is easier to live a decent life, even if you are only moderately crazy. We even let DSA communists who want us all dead or in prison camps spout off and politically organize, to our own detriment.
A transgender woman who fled the US seeking asylum in the Netherlands now fears she could be ‘hurt or killed’ after the notorious refugee camp she was placed in became so dangerous that the Red Cross pulled out aid workers.
Ter Apel, the Netherlands’ largest refugee camp, is home to around 2,000 asylum seekers from across the globe.
For years, it has sheltered people fleeing war and persecution, including Eritreans, Somalis and Syrians, who say it remains too dangerous to return home despite the fall of Bashar al-Assad.
Now, a new wave has begun arriving: transgender Americans who say they fled the US fearing for their safety after Donald Trump returned to the White House.
Asylum seeker Jane-Michelle Arc, 48, from California, left the United States after she said it had become increasingly volatile for transgender people.
Arc, a software engineer from San Francisco, said she had faced abuse on the street and while using women’s restrooms, and decided to flee the US after a harrowing incident in which she feared being run over by a truck.
But Ter Apel has been grappling with a surge in violence outside the asylum center, including stabbings and violent brawls, prompting aid groups and Red Cross volunteers to temporarily halt their work supporting refugees over safety concerns.
‘The situation I have in the US as a trans person, not good right, but here, I will be hurt or killed,’ Arc told local outlet Pow News.
There are many ironies here, obviously, not the least of which is that trans people are, statistically speaking, among the least likely people in the United States to get killed or assaulted according to crime statistics, and even the Human Rights Campaign (not that they will say it quite like that, but if you do a bit of math from their list of trans people murdered, you find that the victimization rate per capita is minuscule).
Almost every trans person who is assaulted or killed is a sex worker who fooled a trick into believing they were a woman and who paid a horrific price for their deception. That is awful, of course, but hardly surprising. Sex workers in general are in a risky business.
When trans people talk about “being in danger,” they are referring to the backlash against their efforts to invade women’s sports and bathrooms, and of course the efforts to get their ideology out of schools. Protests against Drag Queen Story Hour are not “genocide,” as these people believe, but rather people pushing back against grooming, and efforts to get them out of women’s spaces is just common sense reasserting itself.
Leftists suffer from the delusion that people pushing back against their demands is threatening to them, as if we all must participate in their delusions or we are literally killing them. That’s because, in their minds, we are, by “denying their existence.” You may think that means denying their physical existence, but to them their existence and their delusion are the same thing. Calling a man a man when he wants to be a woman is metaphorically “killing” them.

It’s obviously a mental health issue. By definition, these people are disassociated from reality. They are incapable of navigating the world, which makes them a danger to themselves and sometimes to others.
Europeans who traveled to the United States for the World Cup left realizing they had been systematically lied to by their own politicians and media. They got to see the real American, and decided it was awesome.
The inverse seems to be happening to people who bought into the media myth here in the United States and fled abroad, thinking they were escaping a hellhole, only to discover that the places they imagined to be superior aren’t all that.

Leftists who worried that their homes in Los Angeles or San Francisco were dangerous places to be dissenters against Trumpism flee to places like Canada, which they imagine to be welcoming socialist havens for refugees from America, only to discover that they are neither welcomed with open arms nor that socialism is quite so humane as they imagine.

Canada, it turns out, only welcomes “refugees” who illegally cross the border, and it is expensive to live there and doesn’t provide health care to Americans for free.
What’s hilarious is that this chick says she “understands” because she is not a citizen. One wonders whether that applies to illegal aliens in the United States.
One need not wonder. Denying free health to illegals in the US is fascist. Doing so in Canada is “understandable.” Which makes you wonder—are they objecting to the policies, or do they just hate us? I think we know the answer.
Who abandons their homes in terror at a nonexistent threat, flees to a country that they discover doesn’t want them, and never even bothered to check on the laws and living conditions before they toss their lives in the trash bin?
Mentally ill people. People who suffer from delusions. Emotional wrecks whom we should pity and try to get cured.
Yet instead, a good chunk of the country lionizes them when they leave and ignores their actual plight when they have to face reality.
So who really are the cruel people? The Trump people who tell them to calm down, or the people who egg them on, feeding their delusions?
