Giants QB Jaxson Dart Calls Apparently Unforgivable Audible – HotAir

There’s this nice young man – well, okay. I don’t know him personally, but he certainly comes off as pleasant enough. He’s this second-year quarterback for my old hometown team, the once-mighty NY (NEW JERSEY, DAMMIT) Giants.

His name is Jaxson Dart. Sounds like the name for a late 70s TV series star or something, doesn’t it?

This past Friday, the clean-cut Dart – Utah native, Ole Miss grad, and member of the Church of Latter-day Saints – shocked the football universe, leaving his teammates and the sports world gasping for air by doing the unthinkable and the, dare I say, unforgivable.

I won’t even spell it out for you because the entire shameful incident was caught on tape, all minute and a half of it – the shout-out heard ’round the sports world.

Right here.

Yup. Kid lost his damn mind and, when asked to introduce the President of the United States…he did it.

One of his teammates, Abdul Carter, reacted thusly:

And it was off to the JAXSON DART HAS RUINED FOOTBALL racist races.

The proud black woman, a former ESPN sportscaster, who I noticed is still a race-baiting hater, got her CNN moment to opine on Dart’s ‘unforced error’ upsetting his ‘black Muslim teammate.’

…That’s when it became, oh no, don’t mix sports and politics. In this particular case, this was an unforced error by Jaxon Dart. Again, Donald Trump is historically unpopular. You are the quarterback of the New York Giants. What was the point? What is the upside in appearing at this rally? Now, he has a right to support whoever he wants, but Abdul Carter has a right to criticize his support of that. And a lot of athletes, partly what makes them hesitant about talking about their political beliefs, is that they don’t want the blowback and they don’t want the resistance and how people might feel about it. So yeah, his teammate who is a Muslim, who’s a black man in America, had every right to question him about what that support means, especially when you are considered to be the face of the organization and the sort of default leader of the entire team.’

The NY Daily News moaned that Dart’s misstep makes poor Jim Harbaugh’s well-compensated job as coach ‘that much harder.’

The harridans on The View suggested the young man wear more padding as his teammates might want to injure him for his misstep.

In the meantime, the shellshocked Abdul must have felt some pressure, because his Xweet disappeared under a deluge of withering criticism like this from my friend Cynical Publius, pointing out the obvious:

…2. Abdul Carter is a second year edge rusher for the New York Football Giants.  He is from Philadelphia and graduated from Penn State.  He is a devout Muslim who prays to Allah on the field before games, and is extremely open about his faith in and out of the locker room. When Carter saw that his teammate had the temerity to accept the honor of introducing President Trump, he ripped him on X.

3. Both Carter and Dart were 1st Round draft picks last year, and both had strong rookie seasons.  Giants’ ownership and management hopefully consider them to be the cornerstones of a team-wide revival to be led by new head coach John Harbaugh (a Super Bowl winner with the Baltimore Ravens and also someone who is not afraid to meet with President Trump). (That optimism exists even though Carter could not stay awake in team meetings last season.)

So with that background in mind, I have this to say to Abdul Carter:

Muslim terrorists destroyed a large swathe of New York City in the name of Allah, yet you are accepted on your team and in NYC, and no one challenges your beliefs or your right to express them.  So how about you shut the fudge up, focus on learning how to sack the QB at the NFL level, learn how to stay awake in team meetings, and stop tearing your team apart when your teammate is given the honor of introducing the President of the United States of America?

This is a free country.  You are free to worship a deity that enslaves women, and Dart is free to say hello to the President.  How about you just accept that, Abdul?

Jason Whitlock excoriated Abdul for wanting to ‘micro-manage’ a teammate’s life.

What is the point of Abdul Carter going after Jaxson Dart for speaking at Donald Trump’s event in New York? It is another example of black people wanting to micromanage anything white people do, while having no interest in black people’s behavior.

Podcaster DeVory Darkins made the same point. Since when does a team’s racial makeup dictate a man’s political choices?

…That his teammates can’t possibly disagree with him and still block for him on Sunday. Tribalism at its finest Folks!

Also, the controversy is reminding everyone that Mr. Carter’s background is not as pristine as it could be, and that he is, in fact, much more of a prototypical NFL poster child than an NFL professional should be.

Strangely enough, that’s precisely what else has happened. Another thugtastic NFL poster child’s name was just added to that dismal list yesterday.

…strangulation and suffocation, and intimidation of a victim.

But you’d never know it for the continuing uproar and furor over the Jaxson Dart misstep that has single-handedly destroyed the New York Giants.

Mr. Jacobs, if convicted, could be looking at some serious time.

The Daily News sportswriter featured in the Xweet earlier, Pat Leonard, has four Xweets on his feed about Jaxson Freakin Dart hurting Abdul Carter’s feelings and ruining the Giants, and not a single word about the arrest of Josh Jacobs. Not even a reXweet from another outlet in the 24 hours since Jacobs’ arrest.

The only seeming concern over the Jacobs arrest is, ‘Holy CRAP! What does the Pack do without a running back now?! ZOMG!

It’s comical considering how the NFL forces their athletes and teams to put “end racism” on helmets and field goal posts; meanwhile, THE ONLY reason media members like @LeBatardShow and @EmmanuelAcho had an issue with Dart is because Dart is white. The irony, though. No one complaining about Dart ever had the same energy about Lawrence Taylor or Lil Wayne supporting Trump.

Poor Packers. Whatever are they to do?

Based on a similar ‘by name’ Google search five whole days after the fact, the real scandal roiling the NFL is still Dart introducing Trump.

Seriously.

It’s tearing the tightly woven social fabric of the sport apart.

Where just another player choking out another girlfriend is no big deal, and the Jacobs’ choke/felony strangulation/etc will be gone.

*yawn*

Maybe Goodell’s league death wish for all the games to be on streaming this fall is not such a bad idea after all.

They’re all acting like it’s a fantasy league anyway.
