Donald Trump says the border is ‘Joe Biden invasion’

Former President Donald Trump declared a “Joe Biden invasion” on Thursday as he visited the border in Texas, but said he fixed it before and he can do it again if he’s returned to the White House.

Mr. Trump was in Eagle Pass, where he was joined by Gov. Greg Abbott and National Border Patrol Council President Brandon Judd for an up-close look at the park where Texas and the federal government are locked in a legal dispute over the migrant crisis.

Mr. Biden repeatedly laid the blame for the last three years of chaos at President Biden’s feet, saying the wave of high-profile crimes attributed to illegal immigrants in recent days should be known as “Biden migrant crime.”

He said Mr Biden is responsible for “the blood of countless innocent victims.”

“Three years ago we had the most secure border in history,” Mr. Trump said. “And people weren’t coming because they knew they weren’t going to get in.”

The former president focused heavily on the devastation he said has been wrought by the more than three million illegal immigrants that have been caught and released into the U.S. over the last three years.

Crime loomed large, with Mr. Trump saying he’d spoken with the parents of Laken Riley, a student killed on a Georgia college campus by someone authorities say is an illegal immigrant caught and released under Mr. Biden’s policies.

“Her parents can never be the same,” Mr. Trump said.
