A 4-year-old boy in Hartselle, Alabama, died Monday after being attacked by a neighbor’s Olde English bulldog.
Beau Clark was evacuated for treatment by air but died later that evening, the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office said on Facebook.
The dog that attacked Beau was euthanized, the sheriff’s office said.
Law enforcement did not identify the dog’s owner or say why the dog attacked Beau. The dog belonged to a neighbor and also bit an unspecified man during the incident, authorities told WAFF-TV.
Law enforcement said the death hit the close-knit community hard.
“There’s a multitude of people that woke up today just hurting and they had to go do things that require superhuman strength. Those teachers that had to go be in those classrooms where kids that were friends or kids that were in the classroom with these people, our heart goes out to them,” MCSO Public Information Officer Mike Swafford told WHNT-TV.
Beau is survived by his parents Kevin and Hailey Clark and two brothers.
